Thirsty Boyz League Rules of Play

The Thirsty Boyz League uses the most recent rules as provided by the USGA

  • The ball must be holed by the player. No gimmies.
  • No side bets. This is not the league to make a living playing golf. This is a league where life is lived to play golf.
  • Players may carry more than 14 clubs without penalty.
  • The maximum score for any hole is triple bogey.
  • Lift, clean, and place in your fairway only. Lift, clean, and drop through the green and not in a hazard. Drop must be within one club length of the original position and must be on the flagstick and ball line. Cannot drop laterally left or right. Can only drop once.
  • Out of bounds are to be played as a lateral hazard. Drop within two club lengths of where the ball went out of bounds and take a 1 stroke penalty.
  • If a player looses a ball through the green, not in a hazard, they may drop a new ball in play with a 1 stroke penalty. Dropped balls must be confirmed by at least one competitor as to the correct area. Balls lost near the fairway must be dropped at least two steps into the nearest rough. When the "Leaf Rule" is in effect, the 1 stroke penalty is not charged.
  • If a player deems his ball to be unplayable, they may take full relief from the unplayable situation by following "ground under repair" rules for relief, and taking a 1 stroke penalty. This does not apply when the player's ball is resting in a hazard.
  • The ball does not have to be played while resting on rocks or roots. Have at least one competitor acknowledge that your ball is on rocks or roots then place the ball directly behind and within one club length of the current spot. There is no penalty for this relief.
  • During situations where the rules are not clearly understood, the player may play two balls until holed, one ball for each interpretation of the rule. A league manager will give a decision as to which ball will be scored before the player turns in their scorecard.
  • Any player disagreements not resolved in a friendly manner will result in a 2 stroke penalty for all parties.
  • All course restrictions must be followed. Irresponsible conduct may result in banishment from the league.
  • Golf is played, for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and to abide by the Rules. (Rules of Golf, The Spirit of the Game)
